Welcome To
"Courageous Together Support Group"

We are glad you’re checking out the “Courageous Together Support Group.” This group has been created with a desire to support the frontline individual who desires to connect and process in a setting with other frontline providers. As frontline individuals you are facing many difficult realities, including the disappointment of unmet expectations, failed promises and the behavior of others during this time of crisis. So often our expectation of what was supposed to happen and what actually took place creates a gap where our emotions can heighten, even to the point of anger over disappointment or disconnection. Relationships are often the vehicle we need to process our internal emotions, however, self-criticism, fear of vulnerability, and grief and loss can be the hurdles forcing us to go inward, instead of being courageous enough to reach outwards to others. It takes connection and belonging to an authentic and real group of individuals that can ground us during times of uncertainties. “Courageous Together” consists of six weekly sessions focused on the elements and skills that will help you develop authenticity, extend kindness to yourself, practice mindfulness, and most of all allow you to process with other courageous authentic people. Brene Brown, Ph.D., LMSW, in her book, “Rising Strong,” uses the analogy of an arena, where courage and bravery are needed to show up. Brown tells her reader that those in the audience will either lend a critical or supportive relationship to the person rumbling inside the arena. Here, we will take the material for the six weekly telemedicine sessions found below, breaking them down for an understanding of how to decrease anxiety, increase courage, self-compassion, being authentic while connecting and belonging to others through COVID-19.

The Arena
It takes great courage to show up in the Arena. The cheap seats, box seats, and critic section can be loud, but who is in your support section today?

Anxiety & Courage
Anxiety is a sign that you’re about to do something which requires Courage.

Self-Compassion
It can be difficult but powerful to extend compassion toward yourself. This means extending self-kindness, remembering that you’re human, and practicing mindfulness.

Conflict Between Head and Heart
It makes sense that your logic and emotions are at odds during crisis. Give yourself permission to acknowledge that this inner-conflict is normal.

Authenticity in Crisis
It takes courage to stay true to who you are in times of crisis.

Power of Connection
Connection happens when people interact and feel seen, heard and valued. When you feel alone, courageously seek even a small moment of connection.
